A poker stream with a prohibited casino’s logo can break Twitch’s rules even when the poker itself is allowed. A lawful slots stream on Kick can be permitted to stay live while earning nothing from its Partner Program. For gambling creators, permission to broadcast, permission to advertise and eligibility for platform payments are three different questions.
Twitch allows some gambling content but restricts specific sites, gambling referrals and sponsorships. Kick permits gambling streams and certain commercial partnerships subject to licensing, local law, disclosure and age-label requirements. Neither platform’s permission replaces the laws that apply to the creator.
Twitch vs Kick: the main differences
Issue | Twitch | Kick |
Gambling gameplay | Some is permitted; prohibited sites cannot be shown | Permitted where lawful, subject to gambling rules |
Gambling links and referral codes | Prohibited for sites promoting slots, roulette, dice or skins gambling | Affiliate links may be permitted with disclosure and legal compliance |
Sponsorships | Risky gambling promotions, including online slots and roulette websites, are prohibited | Gambling sponsors must hold valid licences in the relevant jurisdiction |
Content labels | Gambling Content Classification Label for qualifying content | 18+ label and an appropriate gambling category |
Payments for gambling streams | Permitted gameplay does not establish permission for a casino sponsorship | Gambling categories are excluded from Partner Program stream payments |
What gambling content can you stream on Twitch?
Twitch’s gambling guidance explicitly allows fantasy sports, sports betting and poker. It also clarifies that gambling gameplay is not universally banned: permitted content must avoid prohibited sites and use the appropriate label.
Twitch gives a useful example: a poker broadcast with a Stake.com logo overlay is prohibited. The permitted game does not cancel out the prohibited branding.
Discussion of prohibited sites is allowed within Twitch’s restrictions. Showing the site or directing viewers to it is a different matter.
Which gambling sites are prohibited on Twitch?
The policy announced on September 20, 2022, and implemented on October 18, 2022, targeted sites offering slots, roulette or dice without licensing in the US or another jurisdiction providing sufficient consumer protection. Mishcon de Reya’s contemporary analysis records that original test.
Today, Twitch’s Community Guidelines describe a broader assessment: licensing, deposit limits, waiting periods, age verification, and whether creators use or encourage VPNs to evade geographic restrictions. A licence alone is not an automatic approval.
The restrictions extend to free or social versions of prohibited sites. Twitch also prohibits displaying their logos and watching or restreaming their gameplay, even when the broadcaster is not personally gambling. Promotion or sponsorship of skins gambling is prohibited too.
Reacting to a clip does not exempt prohibited gameplay.
The list has already expanded. On August 2, 2023, Twitch added Blaze and Gamdom to the original four operators, as documented in contemporary reporting on its announcement. That is a concrete example of restrictions being extended to additional sites, rather than a hypothetical warning. A site absent today can be added later.
Can Twitch streamers share casino affiliate links?
Twitch prohibits links and referral codes to sites promoting slots, roulette, dice or skins gambling. Its gambling education resource explicitly includes skins. The restriction is broader than the named site list; spoken referrals to restricted gambling sites are also covered by its guidance.
For a channel review, check automated bot messages, panels and overlays alongside the live browser window. Removing a promotional banner is incomplete if a chat command still distributes the same referral.
Does disclosing a sponsorship make it acceptable?
No. Twitch’s branded-content policy prohibits risky gambling promotions, with online slots and roulette websites given as examples. A paid-promotion label does not override that restriction.
For otherwise permitted branded content, Twitch requires its disclosure tool. An exchange of value can include goods or services, not only a cash payment. Creators must also ensure that the promoted product is allowed.
What gambling content can you stream on Kick?
Kick’s relationship with gambling is also commercial. It was co-founded by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, the founders behind Stake. Contemporary reporting identifies that shared founding team, while Easygo presents both Stake and Kick within its own group of brands. This is relevant ownership and business context, but it does not establish that every gambling operator or sponsorship is approved.
Kick permits gambling content, but Guideline 11 sets conditions. Creators must follow applicable gambling laws, and minors must not participate in gambling-related activities.
Affiliate links and sponsored gambling can be permitted. However, gambling sponsors must hold valid licences in the relevant jurisdiction, and affiliate relationships must be disclosed clearly. A licence somewhere in the world should not be mistaken for authorisation everywhere a creator operates.
What changed on February 1, 2025?
In its November 26, 2024 safety announcement, Kick set February 1, 2025 as the start date for a requirement that gambling sites shown on stream use identity verification to establish that users are adults. Reporting published the following day links to that announcement.
This concerned checks performed by the gambling website. A visible “18+” badge is not the same as verifying a player’s identity and age, and the stream’s own age label is a separate requirement.
The current Community Guidelines, marked March 19, 2026, emphasise legality, licensing for sponsored gambling, disclosure, age labelling and the exclusion of minors. They do not repeat the earlier announcement’s detailed ID-verification wording. Creators assessing a casino should therefore check its actual verification process and seek clarification from Kick if its eligibility is uncertain, rather than treating an age badge as proof of compliance.
Does Kick pay for gambling streams?
Not through Partner Program payments for streams in gambling categories. Kick’s current Partner Program revenue rules explicitly exclude gambling and Just Sleeping streams from that programme’s monetisation.
Older coverage refers to the Creator Incentive Program, or KCIP. Use the current Partner Program rules for 2026; the age-verification announcement does not establish when the payment exclusion began.
Other income sources have separate conditions: Kick describes subscription revenue, and its Community Guidelines permit qualifying sponsorships and affiliate links.
Budget a casino stream without Partner Program stream payments, even when the broadcast is permitted.
Can viewers fund a streamer’s gambling session?
Kick’s answer is no. Its streamer safety guidance prohibits gambling with funds supplied by viewers, including buy-ins through sweepstakes or lotteries.
For example, a proposed segment where viewers send money into a shared betting pot falls within the viewer-funding problem. Calling the transfer a donation does not change the fact that viewers are supplying the gambling money.
Why local law matters: the example of Poland
Poland shows why a platform’s gambling category cannot establish legal permission to play or promote a casino.
The Ministry of Finance explains that online gambling is subject to a state monopoly, except for betting and promotional lotteries, which require authorisation. Its official register of lawful operators identifies Totalizator Sportowy as the operator authorised to run the online casino at totalcasino.pl. A foreign casino licence does not replace that Polish framework.
Advertising is a separate issue. The ministry’s guidance on online gambling promotion explains the general prohibition on advertising and promoting casino games, including slots, roulette, card and dice games. Advertising of betting offered under a Polish permit has a conditional exception; that is not a general exception for online casinos.
For a streamer, this matters beyond the game window. The ministry identifies public gambling branding, links to gambling operators and encouragement to participate as potentially falling within advertising or promotion. A sponsored casino logo, deposit code and “join me” message can therefore raise Polish advertising-law issues even if the streaming platform permits that format.
This example does not mean every factual discussion of gambling is an advertisement. The content and circumstances matter. A creator operating from Poland should obtain advice on the proposed gambling and promotional activity before accepting such a deal.
Which labels do gambling streams need?
Even when a gambling stream is permitted, creators still need to label it correctly. Content labels help viewers understand what they are about to watch, while sponsorship disclosures explain the commercial relationship behind a broadcast. Twitch and Kick handle these requirements differently, so check the settings for each platform before going live.
Twitch: Gambling Content Classification Label
Twitch defines its Gambling label around participating in or promoting online or in-person gambling, poker or fantasy sports involving real money. Creators can select it through Edit Stream Info in Stream Manager.
The label also affects visibility. Twitch says gambling-labelled streams are excluded from homepage recommendation shelves, although they can still appear in the left navigation’s followed and recommended channels. That is a distribution restriction, not a statement that all gambling streams are prohibited.
For inaccurate labelling, Twitch describes warnings and applied labels. Repeated labelling violations can result in the label being imposed for a period; its label policy says those violations alone do not result in account suspension.
Kick: 18+ label and the correct category
Kick states that gambling content always requires its 18+ label. Streams must also use an appropriate gambling category, such as Slots & Casino.
If a broadcast changes from a conversation to gambling, update the category and label to match. Kick identifies deliberate use of the wrong category to attract viewers as a violation.
For sponsored segments, make the commercial relationship clear both visually and audibly, and use the Branded Content tool. A practical disclosure might explain who paid for the segment and whether an affiliate link earns the creator commission. The wording must describe the actual arrangement.
What can lead to enforcement on Kick?
Kick’s suspension guidance identifies illegal gambling, audience-funded gambling, unlicensed gambling sponsors, undisclosed affiliate relationships and missing age labels as violations.
Its moderation process considers context, including the creator’s actions, response, the outcome and channel history. This should not be interpreted as a guaranteed warning before a suspension.
What should streamers check before going live?
Keep four answers on your production checklist: which operator will appear, what the audience will be encouraged to do, who is paying for the segment, and which country’s rules apply. Then review the scene, chat commands, category and labels against those answers.
For Twitch, a permitted game can still come with prohibited branding or referrals. For Kick, a permitted gambling broadcast can still be ineligible for Partner Program payments. Resolving those questions before accepting a sponsor makes both the content plan and the earnings forecast more reliable.
